Students from our own MQE recently attended the Young Achievers Forum. This is an annual event that brings 6th graders from 5 different districts together (GISD, LCPS, Hatch, Deming & Alamogordo) to get a first-hand exposure to a college campus. To inspire and expand their horizons by exploring a future careers, in the STEM, Health & Fitness, Business/Finance, Medical and Liberal Arts/Education programs. The Keynote speaker was not other than a proud GISD Alunmi (STHS Grad) Ms. Josie Ortegon, who is now a successful KVIA TV reporter. She was raised in Sunland Park, attended Desert View Elementary, Santa Teresa Middle school and graduated top 10% from Santa Teresa High School.

Welcome to another exciting school year!
We are very proud of the growth our “scholars” made last year! I am so proud of each and every one of our students and teachers for bringing our great school to an “A”! This is only the beginning! We are determined to continue the great strides made by setting high expectations for all students and for “aiming for A’s”. We are dedicated to educating the whole child by focusing on both academics and citizenship. Our campus motto of “respect and dignity” and our encouragement of “A’s” will help prepare our students for the successful futures that they so deserve.
Please know that this is your school and your presence here is wanted. Stop by any time with concerns or to let us know that you are happy with the way the year is going.
I am so happy to be leading this school with the fantastic faculty and staff we have. Each and every one of us is dedicated to your children. We are an extension of you and we are determined to make a positive difference in the lives of your children.
Thank you so much! Go, Mesquite Rams!
