We are very proud of the growth our “scholars” made last year! I am so proud of each and every one of our students and teachers for bringing our great school to a “B”! This is only the beginning! We are determined to continue the great strides made by setting high expectations for all students and for “aiming for A’s”. We are dedicated to educating the whole child by focusing on both academics and citizenship. Our campus motto of “respect and dignity” and our encouragement of “A’s” will help prepare our students for the successful futures that they so deserve.
Please know that this is your school and your presence here is wanted. Stop by any time with concerns or to let us know that you are happy with the way the year is going.
I am so happy to be leading this school with the fantastic faculty and staff we have. Each and every one of us is dedicated to your children. We are an extension of you and we are determined to make a positive difference in the lives of your children.
Thank you so much! Go, Mesquite Rams!

The SHARKS return from the State Championship
Congratulations to the M.E.R.I.T. Club team 36378 The SHARKS. They competed on Saturday February 10th, 2018 at the New Mexico FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship event.
This group of amazing MQE students finished 15th our of the 36 teams representing New Mexico and Colorado. While they did not bring home an award, they improved in all judging areas and were invited back to present their project idea, turning Gray water into Green Gardens, for a second panel of judges. I have coached FLL teams for the past five years, and this was the best performing group at such an event. They were under tons of pressure, and worked late into the night before the competition to fine tune their project, but maintained their composure and treated everyone at the event with respect and dignity. Thank you for the opportunity to coach these young student in this year's HydroDynamics Challenge.
There are many out there who have questioned what our robotics is about. I always answer it's not about the robots, but so much more. I think this video will help to clarify what I mean and cannot put into words.
On behalf of our club, I would like to thank the following sponsors for their contributions to our FLL program. Without their generosity the amazing accomplishments of our club would not have been possible.
Dominguez Farms and Dairies Inc.
QED Enterprises Inc.

What comes next
The SHARKS qualified to move on to the regional finals in Albuquerque. The event will take place on February 10th, 2018. Please help us by making a donation to the program in the school office.
This season our little school had three teams participate in the Las Cruces Qualifier. As usual this is a very long day filled with excitement and stress. The students did well with The Deep Sea Mermaids taking 1st place in the Robot Design category and the Sharks taking 2nd place in the Robot Design category, a clean sweep for that category!
Las Cruces FLL Qualifier November 18, 2017
The RAMPIRE team finished their first season as a part of the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) strong!
At the Las Cruces qualifier they not only took First place in the Robot Game, but also received the 2nd place Champion's Award .
They went on to compete at the regional event in Albuquerque where they finished 13th overall. Not bad for the first year of the program.
